April MEC & BOD Elections

It is an important year for the s-UA MEC as well as the AFA International Office. Rank and file, WORKING flight attendants are barred from voting for officers at these dizzying heights of power and prestige but that doesn't mean there isn't intense campaigning for these offices on a public level since it is the other members of the "cult" at the local council levels that decide these appointments. They expect this kind of AFA confrontational theatre as a measure of a potential candidates' true mettle and commitment to the oligarchy. Until the constitution and bylaws can be changed to make the AFA-CWA flight attendant sector a truly member driven organization by allowing ALL working flight attendants the right to vote for officers at ALL levels of this so called "democratic" union, it will continue to be an elitist sham.
ONE DAY LEFT TO VOTE IN JFK and LAX!

TURNING POINT ELECTIONS......

TIME IS NOW
ALL ABOARD FOR AFA REFORM

Remember the Representational Election campaign at the merged United Airlines between the s-UA and s-CAL flight attendants?? Remember the numerous Road Shows held by the s-UA AFA?
Let’s refresh your memory…
The s-UA AFA poo poo’ed the Company for offering UA Flight Attendants an agreement patterned after the very successful CAL negotiated contract. A contract that our CAL brothers & sisters have built, developed and enjoyed ever since the Union Busting days of Frank Lorenzo. Here are some of the things the s-UA AFA promised their flight attendants in the contract they subsequently negotiated…
They promised you $60+ per hour max pay
They promised you a 90 hour Reserve Guarantee
 They promised you greater flexibility
 They promised you No Give-backs
They promised you No furloughs (they even told you that if they lost United would have to furlough 3000+ flight attendants)
They promised you an Industry Leading Contract because you deserved it
Once the campaign was over and they no longer needed your vote, let’s see where they are today??
 $60+ per hour – NO
 A 90 hour Reserve Guarantee – NO
Greater flexibility – They dropped the 100 hour cap yet retained daily and weekly restrictions AND a Trip Trade System that is outdated and favors the few senior f/a's
No Give-backs – They gave up plenty
No furloughs – Ask the 685…Our ranks are getting smaller while the CAL ranks grow every month!
An Industry Leading Contract – Their “new” 2012 contract is barely out of the basement within the industry

This was no victory for s-UA flight attendants desperate to pay bills and desperate to put food on the table.
Over 200 years ago our forefathers had a revolution over the simple concept of “Taxation without Representation”, now it’s our turn! It’s time to fight for representation that does what we want! It’s time to fight for representation that listens to us. It’s time to fight for representation that adapts and grows based on the needs of ALL the members, not representation based on a world that no longer exists.
We need representation to look to the future! We need to get rid of the status quo at the s-UA AFA of the past!
This is OUR time and it’s OUR turn!!
VOTE FOR REFORM CANDIDATES AT YOUR LOCAL!
